If you experience back or neck pain, are struggling with digestion or stress, chiropractic treatment could be a solution for you to consider. A chiropractor visit doesn’t just handle injuries, they can help aid in a multitude or issues and get your body the relief it needs.

Chiropractor visit

If you have been considering chiropractor treatment, there may be more to their services than you first realized. Chiropractors can help to align your spine, neck and other parts of your body, but they can also give you tips to manage pain daily and work with you to live a more full life.

Pain Relief

Of course the biggest reason people choose to participate in a chiropractor visit is for pain relief. Whether it be from a car accident, sports injury or chronic pain, chiropractic treatment helps patients to feel relief and do more.

The biggest areas that patients experience pain are the neck and back, which cause lots of discomfort and can keep you from work or recreational activities. Chiropractors can help to minimize or eliminate the pain through massage therapy, k-laser therapy or spinal decompression.

Better Sleep

Many of us would love to get better quality sleep. With a chiropractor visit, helping to limit the pain in your body, it will not have to work as hard while you sleep. Our bodies do the most work while we sleep, helping us to heal. If you have a lot of stress or can’t sleep from pain, it can take your body longer to heal, and affect your sleep.

Chiropractors can use manipulation to increase blood flow in your body which can accelerate healing. Aligning the spine can also help to accelerate healing and give you less problems while laying down.

Pregnancy Relief

When you are pregnant, your body experiences many rapid changes often in a short period of time. Elevate Wellness can help you maintain proper alignment and can help improve your birthing process.

Having a chiropractor visit while you are pregnant can help shorten labor times, make you more comfortable during your pregnancy, have fewer interventions during labor and delivery and help babies have more room to grow freely in the womb. By aligning the pelvis and the spine of the expecting mother, we can help the labor and delivery process go much smoother.  We see many expecting mothers in our office and frequently hear from our patients that pregnancies with chiropractic care are much smoother than those without.

Blood Pressure Normalization

Hypertension is usually caused due to stress. Stress creates tension in your muscles, joints, bones and can raise your blood pressure significantly. Most people turn to medication to keep up with their blood pressure but chiropractic care has shown to help significantly decrease blood pressure.

Chiropractors help to relieve stress and when you are not in pain, your stress level will go down. Relieving tension on the top of the neck can help to lower blood pressure rates.

For Those With A Desk Job

Those with a desk job sit hunched over a keyboard or at an uncomfortable chair for the majority of the day can benefit from a chiropractor visit. This can cause discomfort and misalignment in many parts of your body. For those with desk jobs, neck and back pain are a real issue, because they sit in the same position day after day.

Chiropractic care can help to relieve unnecessary pressure on your back, neck and shoulders. Over time, if not taken care of, this pressure can cause your discs to slip or herniate which can be very painful. A chiropractor visit can help prevent herniated discs and improve your comfort at work.

You Play Sports Or Are Athletic

For those who love to be athletic or who play high school or college sports can benefit from regular chiropractic treatment. When you visit a chiropractor you will get a better range of motion and perform better.

Having a consistent chiropractor visit can help to prevent future injury and improve your performance as an athlete. We can also discuss techniques to help you avoid injury and extra stress on your body.

Alternative To Medication

Many patients want to avoid pain medication or other medication at all costs. Chiropractic treatment will help you to avoid pain pills and allow you to go throughout your day without throbbing pain. A chiropractor visit can help your body to heal instead of just masking the pain for a small amount of time.

Summer activities are a great way to get some physical exercise. For those with joint pain, exercises such as running or jumping can cause severe pain. Here is a list of activities that are low impact, chiropractor recommended summer activities for your joints and can actually help alleviate some of the pain you may be experiencing.

Chiropractor approved summer activities

Stretch Before Anything

Before you begin any physical activity it is best to stretch and warm up your body. Moving and stretching your muscles helps prevent injury or further pain and gets them ready before jumping right into a strenuous exercise. Stretching gets your body going and ready to move and keeps it moving.

Swimming

Summer isn’t summer without swimming. Luckily swimming is one of the best summer activities you can participate in to help back and joint pain. Aerobic exercise is really helpful for those with chronic pain. Even casual swimming or aerobic exercises can help with physical fitness. Water helps to give you some exercise without putting more pressure on your joints and swimming also helps to lower your blood pressure. If you feel you need some exercise this summer but want less pain, hop on in the pool.

Biking

Summer is the perfect time to explore on your bike. Biking is low impact for your body and is recommended for current chiropractic patients. It is important to maintain good posture and take breaks as needed for your joint or back pain.

Yoga

Like stretching, yoga can help to alleviate pain and prevent future joint pain. Yoga is included in this list of summer activities because the warmth from the sun actually helps improve your flexibility. There are many health benefits to yoga than it just being a low impact exercise. It can help lower back pain, benefit your heart health and improve your sleep.

Hiking

Hiking is a great way to get outdoors and explore nature. Take your time while hiking and use a walking stick to help with pain if the hike is more challenging. Walking and hiking can easily boost your health and have relatively low impact. If the heat is bothersome for you, it is best to hike or walk in the early morning or evening when it is still light out.

Strength Training

If you experience pain while exercising, strength training might not seem appealing. But building up your muscles is a summer activity that can help protect your joints and ligaments. You don’t have to start with the heaviest weights to get results, but you can build up to bigger exercises. Talk to your doctor or chiropractor to make sure you have a routine that allows you to rest and recover.

Relaxing In A Hammock

Relaxing seems to come hand in hand with the summer months. Relaxing in a hammock is a great summer activity for those who experience chronic pain. Raising your legs in a hammock can help with blood circulation and the flexibility of the hammock allows your body to take the pressure off your joints.

Summer Activities To Avoid

Naps can be helpful for rest but laying down and taking a nap can cause inflammation in those that experience joint pain. Resting your body is important, but if after a nap you feel that your joints are stiff, maybe avoid napping during the day.

Visit Your Chiropractor

One of the most important summer activities that you should not skip is to visit your chiropractor regularly. We can help provide some relief if you have done too much activity or are feeling stiff. Chiropractors help with all kinds of pain and can help your body to heal more naturally.

Elevate Wellness is open Monday through Thursday to make sure that your body is summer ready. Getting low impact exercise combined with visiting our office can help you feel more energized and ready to take on the day. Contact our office to set up an appointment today.

When you are trying to find a chiropractor, it’s good to know what questions to ask your chiropractor prior to starting treatment in order to ensure that it’s going to be a good fit. You’re relying on them to provide you with exceptional care to help you feel better, so you want to ensure that you can trust them and that you’ll be able to get the most out of your treatments.

That’s why we’ve compiled this list of questions to ask your chiropractor so that you’re prepared and can help determine whether or not they are the right fit for you. Prior to even calling a chiropractor to set up an appointment, you’ll want to check and see whether or not they are registered. If they aren’t, keep searching, as this means that they are not fit to practice and you are at risk of not receiving good treatment and even being injured if you see them.

questions to ask your chiropractor

That said, once you’ve ensured that the chiropractor you’re considering is registered, here are some questions to ask your chiropractor. A good chiropractor will be happy to answer any questions that you may have; if they aren’t, this is a red flag and a sign that you should continue your search. While this is a good list of questions to ask your chiropractor, it’s always good to have questions of your own prepared, too.

#1. What Are Your Qualifications?

Chiropractors need a Doctor of Chiropractic degree (D.C.) from an accredited school and be licensed in the states they practice in. If they lack either of these things, they are not qualified to practice chiropractic care. Some chiropractors will also complete additional training in order to gain additional knowledge to better treat their patients.

#2. What Is Your Work Experience?

Some people prefer to see chiropractors who have decades of experience under their belts, while others want to see someone younger who is trained in more recent techniques. It’s good to know your chiropractor’s work experience, especially if you’re seeing them for a specific issue, as some may focus more on one kind of issue than another.

#3. Can You Provide References?

Anyone can write their own testimonials on their website. Among the most important questions to ask your chiropractor is whether or not they can provide you with references from real people who have been to their clinic. If your chiropractor is reluctant to provide you with references, this is a red flag and a sign you should continue your search. You can also look on third-party review sites in order to find reviews.

#4. What Techniques Do You Use?

It’s common for chiropractors to specialize in certain chiropractic techniques. It’s good to include a question about that in your list of questions to ask your chiropractor, especially seeing as sometimes, conditions won’t respond to one technique, but will to another. Another of the questions to ask your chiropractor is what technique or techniques they would use for your specific concerns.

#5. What Does A Visit To Your Office Entail?

Different chiropractors have different approaches, and visits to their offices will differ depending on what their appointments are like. It’s always good to know what you’re getting into before you show up, so that you are prepared.

#6. Do You Often Treat My Condition?

Bountiful Utah spinal injuries

You don’t want to see a chiropractor who doesn’t know what to do in order to help you. A chiropractor who is experienced with your condition will be able to provide you with better care, as they know what methods to use and what works in order to help you heal.

#7. How Long Will My Treatment Last?

This is one of the questions to ask your chiropractor that is 2-pronged. For one: if your chiropractor tells you how long your treatment will last before they’ve even seen you, run. Chiropractors need to conduct a detailed evaluation in person in order to determine the best treatment for you. For two: it’s good to have a general idea of how long you can expect to be in treatment.

Everyone is different, and depending on your body and how it responds to treatments, treatment lengths can vary. Your chiropractor should be able to give you a general idea of how long your treatment will last, as well as how they are going to measure your progress.

#8. Will You Provide Preventative Advice To Support My Recovery?

Chiropractors are supposed to help you, but unfortunately, some care more about the money than about actually helping you. Thus, it’s important to include in your questions to ask your chiropractor whether they are going to give you preventative advice in order to keep this condition from occurring again.

A good chiropractor will want to ensure that you heal and that you stay in good health and will happily tell you what you can do in order to avoid injuries.
